(MANCHESTER, NH)—The New Hampshire Fisher Cats are now on a three game win-streak as they won the third game of the homestand 4-2 over the New Britain Rock Cats late Saturday night. Jose Bautista wasn’t in town, but there still was fireworks; during and after the game.
It all started in the bottom of the first inning. Adam Lind, the Fisher Cats leadoff hitter provided the in-game fireworks show in the Fisher Cats’ first at-bat, as he blasted a shot to right field to get the Fisher Cats an early 1-0 lead.
“I hit it on the sweet spot, and thankfully it went to the right part of the park” said Lind. “It was a cutter.”
In the top of the second, New Britain’s Nathan Hanson hit an RBI double to left, which scored Josmil Pinto who reached on an error.
The Fisher Cats also collected a run in the second. Ryan Schimpf scored from third base on a wild pitch to Brian Jeroloman. This made the score 2-1.
The Fisher Cats rallied in the bottom of the fifth, when Jake Marisnick collected a hit which scored Koby Clemens from second base. Ryan Goins then hit a sacrifice fly to center field, which scored Adam Lind, who the Rock Cats intentionally walked, after they fell behind in a 3-0 count. The score was 4-1 in favor of the Fisher Cats, after five innings.
Aaron Hicks tacked on another run for the Rock Cats in the top of the seventh, hitting a sacrifice fly to center field, scoring Daniel Rohlfing from third, to make the score 4-2.
Sean Nolin, the Fisher Cats starter, was given the no decision. He threw four innings, gave up three hits, an unearned run, walked three, and fanned three batters.
Joel Carreno who came in relief for Nolin, was credited with the win. He hurled two innings, gave up a hit, and struck out three.
The save was given to Trystan Magnuson, who earned his fourth save on the season. He came in to close out the game and that he did, making quick work of the Rock Cats in the ninth. 4-2 the Fisher Cats win.
The Fisher Cats close out the series with the Rock Cats tomorrow at 1:35 PM in Manchester at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium. They will then open up a series with Portland to close out the final homestand of the year.
